LTU Needs A Fresh Arm
Sweden and Lithuania wasted no time posting up runs in their morning match up. In the top of the first each team put two on the board. That was the last time Lithuania would score. Meanwhile Sweden added three in the 2nd, five in the 3rd and three in the 4th to close the game early.
Sweden’s leadoff man, Alvin Taguaripano, had himself a game at the plate going 2/4 with 2 runs, including a homerun, and 2 RBIs. He was not the only Swede to go yard however. Gillan Andre, 1B hitting in the 7 spot, upstaged the SS with 3 runs off 2 hits, including a homerun, and 3 RBIs over just 2 at bats having walked as well. Other top contributors at the plate included CF Hanoi Montero in the 2-spot, who had a double, 2 runs and an RBI, and pitcher Jonny Edgren who had a hit, 2 runs and 2 RBIs without hitting for extra bases.
Pitching his 3rd straight loss for Lithuania was player/coach Vermidas Neverauskas who gave up 12 earned runs while walking five and striking out just a single batter on the day.
