The Czech Republic have won, yet again, defeating Slovakia 11-1 in 5. This one was never close.
The Czechs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning and extended it in the 3rd. Jakub Hajny had a two-run homer and Milan Sulic had an RBI double in the inning stretching their lead to 5-0.
In the top of the 5th, a 2-RBI double by Martin Turek put the Czech Republic up by 10 runs triggering the mercy rule.
Slovakia struggled from the plate, unable to register a single hit in the game. The only run they scored came off a wild pitch in the 4th inning after the runner reached via base on balls.
A big part of Slovakia’s trouble at the plate was due to the stellar pitching of the Czech Republic’s Jaroslav Brenik and Jonas Hajny who combined for 12 strikeouts over 5 innings of work.
The Czech Republic have mercy-ruled every single one of their opponents and they will look to continue the trend against The Netherlands in their next game. Slovakia takes on France.
