In a game that needed no more than 2.5 innings to come to an end Austria picked up their first win of the tournament with a 17-0 victory over Lithuania.
Lithuanian starter Nomeda Neverauskaite lasted a complete inning giving up 11 runs off 6 hits walking three and striking out two. Her infield did not have her back committing three of their five errors before the inning was closed.
In all Lithuania’s infield split their errors E3, E4, E6 in the 1st and E5 back to E3 to start it all over again in the 2nd. Errors aside, they could not take anything away from the strength of Austria’s offense.
As a team they had five extra-base hits including a double, three triples and a homerun. While several players contributed, DP Julia Weiser was definitely earning her place in the 9-spot. Weiser went 2-2, including a triple, with two runs and three RBIs.
