After a solid night’s sleep Spain came to their early game today with bats warm in their 13-5 win over Belgium.
Spain jumped off to an early lead scoring 4 in the 1stwith homeruns by Beltre, Ustariz and Martinez. They added another in the 2ndbefore Belgium hopped on the board with a solo homer of their own by right fielder Thomas De Wolf in the 4th.
In the bottom of the 5thSpain added 5 more with Galvan starting the rally, sending one out of the park. Belgium replied with 2 of their own in the next two innings.
Spain would put up an additional run to end the 6thand 2 more in the 8th. At the end of the game there were 7 balls on the other side of the fence for fans to shag.
On the hill both teams used 4 arms. Though he had just 1.0 inning of work, Ben Van Nuffel took the loss for Belgium giving up 5 earned runs off 4 hits and hitting two batters without producing a single out for himself.
Lowuin Sacramento was Spain’s winning pitcher. He threw 6.0 innings giving up 3 earned runs off 6 hits while striking out 4.
