The Czech Republic handily took down The Kingdom of the Netherlands 8-6 this afternoon at the European Championship.
The Netherlands jumped on the board in the 1stplaying small ball to get the run across. That was the last they were heard of, offensively, until the 5th. They added 3 in that inning and another in the 6th. Their final run on the night came in the bottom of the 9thin much the same manner as their run in the 1st, including the people on the bags.
Conversely, The Czech Republic did the majority of their scoring in middle innings. Scoreless through 3 they added 1 in the 4th, a homerun by catcher, and AAA Norfolk Tides masked man, Martin Cervenka. They added 4 in the 5thand another in the 6thtoo. By the close of that inning, the score was 6-5 in favor of the Czechs. They added on the insurance to start the 9thputting up the two runs that would keep this game from heading into extra innings.
Offensively for the Czech Republic it was the man behind the mask, Cervenka, who made the difference. He had 2 runs off 2 hits, including a double and that homerun, that added up to 2 RBIs on the night.
For The Netherlands, their swinger was, once again, lead off man and 2ndbaseman, Calten Daal. He had 2 runs off 3 hits, including a homerun, and 3 RBIs on the night.
