Final Transactions

Jorge Hereaud moves to Templiers Senart for 2018

Most countries across Europe will host home openers over the Easter holiday. Before they do we’re taking a final look at the off-season transactions.

Two Venezuelans who played for the Montpellier Barracudas in 2017, have moved to the Templiers de Senart for the new season. Both Jorge Hereaud and Alex Perdomo make the move. 28-year old 3rd baseman Hereaud finished the season hitting .279. 24-year old infielder Alex Perdomo hit .272 but became a real threat once safe, accumulating 21 stolen bases on the season.

Brice Lorienne has been playing in the French top division since 2004. He spent the first 7 seasons with his home club in Clermont before moving to Senart in 2011. The following year the former national team player was back with the Averns where he remained through 2017’s season. Now Lorienne will, once again, join the Templiers de Senart bench in 2018. The 30-year old plays utility in both the infield and outfield while also coaching at the academy. There he will continue his duties, as well as coach the U-15 team, commuting between Clermont and Senart.

27-year old RHP Connor Little has joined the Mainz Athletics. He is the second import player to join the pen behind Wilson Lee. The California native will work as the team’s game two starter, replacing Riley Barr.

Ole Paczkowski leaves the Bundesliga II Hamburg Knights for the Bundesliga I Dohren Wild Farmers this season. Over 12 games last year the RHP started 7. He finished the year with 55.0 innings of work and a 4.09 ERA.

Ripken Alberto Reyes signs with Wild Farmers. He moves from the Bundesliga II Munich Caribes to Dohren. In 2017, he was an outfielder with a .409 average and a .818 slugging percentage. There was a significant difference between his home and away stats however. While he hit a respectable .313 with a matching percentage on the road, it seems Reyes prefers his own bed the night before a game. His home field statistics, over twice as many games, were .464 for average and 1.107 slugging. The main difference was extra base hits. At home he had 9 of them and on the road he had none. He knocked in 20 on the season while striking out just 13 times.

Outfielder Shane Salley joins the Mainz Athletics roster. Salley arrives in Germany by way of Solvesborg in Sweden where he was part of their 2017 championship team lineup. During their season he hit .372.

Polish LHP Artur Strzalka spent 2017 playing in Poland where he and his teammates captured the championship title for KS Silesia Rybnik. This was a great way to finish a season that began with his January release from the Yankees organization. There he had been in their international league since 2015. Over the winter Artur represented team Europe against Japan in the Asian Winter Ball League. Strzalka has now signed on with the Mannheim Tornados for 2018.

Dutch national team player Giovanni Tensen will be playing for the Soligen Alligators in 2018. The 21-year old RHP comes to Germany from HCAW in The Netherlands where he mainly worked in relief. The Alligators will be looking to make his a starter.

The Berlin Flamingos have announced another new signing with Marc Aurel Voß. The 26-year-old has been playing for Dortmund Wanderers since 2014, but originally comes from Berlin and thus moves back home. He can be used as a catcher or on third.

National team player, and Parma native, Matteo Bocchi is pitching for the Texas Longhorns on scholarship. This season the RHP made the Fall Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll by maintaining a grade point average higher than 3.0. No word on if he’ll return to Italy for the summer. At the moment, he’s mid-season in Texas. Earlier this month he pitched his first win for the Wranglers entering in relief and putting in 1.1 innings of hitless work.

Leonardo Seminati signed with the Reds in July of 2017, receiving a $135,000 signing bonus as an international player. The 1st baseman was a starter on the Italian national team U-18 team in September where he played in the WBSC Baseball World Cup. He finished the tournament hitting .424 with two homeruns over 26 at bats. The Reds picked him up from Canada and he’s been with them ever since. No word yet on where he’ll spend 2018, but rumors out of spring training have been incredibly positive with the parent club’s own website saying, “Seminati is exceeding expectations at Reds instructs.”

RHP Mikolaj Dabrowski is currently playing baseball for Carnegie High School in California. Over 5 games the Centaury Warszawa player is posting a 1.91 ERA and a 2-0 W/L record. No word yet on whether he’ll return to Poland for the summer.
