Following their December 2, 2017, meeting the joint CEB and ESF Commission announced they are moving forward with plans to combine and become one federation.
A proposal of statutes will be provided to all the member federations of both the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and European Softball Federation (ESF) before the end of this year.
In 2018, following the regular CEB/ESF Congress, there will be a WBSC Europe Congress held on the 10th of February. During that meeting, the proposed statutes will be submitted for approval by the member federations.
This will mark the first time federations have had an opportunity to review a proposed plan in practical terms, though the two organizations have discussed combining, on and off, for many years.
The federations will soon get a first glimpse at the steps that will take them toward the goal of a unified Federation by 2021. This will be only the first round of documents available for review and comment, by the federations to the Commission, in the coming years.
When the merger is finalized, Europe will become the first continent to follow the path set out by the WBSC, combining both softball and baseball operations into a single organization. The expected benefit is to grow the presence of each sport across the continent utilizing the strength and support of a combined community.
