Season Warm Up

March 2, 2017

This week begins European Baseball and Softball Magazine’s second full summer. Over the off-season our readership has continued to significantly increase every month. We know this is all thanks to you. You’ve been amazing about sharing your enthusiasm for the content. We are so grateful for your support.

With so many fans joining us for their first season, we thought it would be a good time to explain some of the in-season features that will be popping up now that opening day has arrived. Here’s what you need to know to navigate the 2017 season with baseballEBM.

What We Cover

Professional level baseball and softball are our main focus here at baseballEBM. We cover international tournaments, league play and European-born players working abroad.

Events Schedule

All the season’s main softball and baseball events at the Division I level, including national team tournaments and All-Star games, can be found on our Events page throughout the year. This information can include fan appreciation days, and other off-field events, so it’s a great place to keep an eye on what's happening in your community, as well as the areas you might visit on summer holiday.

Spain Division de Honor will be the first to start the season on the 18th of March. International baseball will begin with World Baseball Classic from the 6th-25th. The Classic features the national teams from Italy, The Netherlands and Israel so expect regular updates throughout this event. The first European baseball tournament this season is the European Championship Cup. It will be held June 7-11th in Regensburg, Germany.

The softball season opens on April 2nd in German, France and the UK. The first international tournament of the season, the Achille Challenge, will take place June 16-18th in France. The Achille Challenge is the softball sister tournament to the Yoshida Challenge.

In Culture we have things like puzzles and trivia to share on your way to the park and DIY project ideas for special events.

In The MLB

On the 15th of every month we provide updates on European-born players who are working for the summer in the MLB system. Coverage is minor and major league level. You’ll find international stars like Sir Didi Gregorius (NL), Kenley Jansen (NL) and Max Kepler (DE) as well as rising talent like Dovydas Neverauskas (LT), Sven Schüller (DE) and Marten Gasparini (IT).

In the off-season, we continue the tradition with Winter Ball. A flip on the idea, this features European baseball and softball players spending their winter abroad in New Zealand, Australia and throughout the MLB winter ball systems.

Standings

All the season’s standings, including tournament play, are updated each Monday beginning March 6th and can be found in the Stats page.

YouTube

baseballEBM spends the summer on the road covering tournaments and regional play. On the ground we provide behind-the-scenes footage from the events including interviews and highlights. As an affiliate publication of the MLB we also have access to the MLB archives so we’ll be providing coverage, from spring training through the Series, that is relevant to your neighborhood. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for all the highlights.

We also have social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pintrest. Each uses the handle baseballEBM. Join the conversations online with us. We’d love to see how you’re using the app, hear about your day at the park and see pictures from the DIY projects you attempt.
